3 Tips for Good Email Forwarding

Forwarding emails is a common practice and can also be a good networking tool. Sharing relevant information with others builds relationships and cultivates networks. Here are three tips for forwarding well:
  1. Don't be a mass forwarder. Refrain from sending indiscriminate forwards. Be selective about your recipients. The person on the receiving end should think "He knows what I'm interested in" not "Oh no, another tasteless joke from him."
  2. Don't forward humorous emails to a large group. Just because you think something is funny doesn't mean everyone else will. Avoid the risk of offending someone by being discriminating in what you send and to whom.
  3. Be mindful of people's time. Some people think forwards are a waste of time and a surefire way to clog an inbox. If someone doesn't respond to your forwards, take the hint and kindly take them off your list.
